Hi friends! In case you haven't seen it yet... you can now sign up for 30 for 30, our new 30-day fitness challenge. It's 30 minutes of movement for 30 days, plus some surprise bonuses along the way. 😉
The other day was one of those days.
It was hectic from start to finish, just 100% filled to the brim. I was juggling work and having my kid at home all day, and trying (really hard!!) to give myself grace.
But by late afternoon, while running around the park with my kiddo and playing doctor to a bunch of imaginary penguins, I started thinking about all of the unfinished stuff on my plate, and feeling just kind of mad at myself, disappointed even.
I was stewing in my own thoughts for a little while, definitely half ass-ing my role as penguin doctor, when my penguin doctor colleague finally got frustrated with me for not picking up the right doctor tool (toddlers can sniff out distraction from a mile away). I felt even more upset and disappointed with myself for not being more present with him.
When I finally switched places with my partner this evening to go teach class at Flex & Flow, I felt totally and utterly drained. I was kicking myself for all the unfinished stuff on my to-do list and for not being the most kick ass penguin doctor that ever lived. Maybe a little silly but also true.
When I arrived at the studio, a friend gave me a pep talk and reminded me that it’s not possible (yet) to get sued for penguin malpractice. Her kindness helped me remember to be a little kinder to myself and others today and always.
As we head into the holidays, it unfortunately only gets more commonplace to feel like we’re falling down on our to-do lists and the ways we show up for our loved ones. We get distracted, our attention gets divided, and it's so easy to tip over into overwhelm and stop being kind to ourselves.
Because I know we're headed into a busy season, I wanted to create something for the Flex & Flow community to help fill up your cup, and be kinder to yourself as a result.
For me—and I know I’m not alone in this—there’s no better way to stay centered and show up as my best self than to prioritize daily movement, so we focused on bringing that energy to you in the simplest way possible.
30 for 30 is a 30 day movement challenge for this holiday season. It's designed to keep you moving, even when life is coming at you fast. (It'll probably also make you stronger, and you'll have fun!).
30 for 30 is about carving out just 30 minutes a day to focus on movement and fill up your own cup.
It's the kind of thing that reaps big rewards. 30 minutes of self-care time, 30 minutes spent getting stronger and recovering, that ripples out through the rest of your day. So no matter what family (or penguin) drama you encounter, you're ready to show up as your best, most attentive, most joyful self.
All you have to do is show up.
You choose when and where: at the Portland studio, for live classes virtually, or online on your own schedule.
It's 30 days of HIIT & Flow, yoga, and bootcamp classes, with some surprise bonus events also in store. We’ll also have special family-friendly movement classes on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Christmas Eve so that you can make movement part of your family traditions.
From the bottom of my little penguin doctor heart, thanks for lifting me up every day.
Let’s keep moving through the holiday season together!
