Hi hi,
If you know me, you know that I'm not the most "relaxed" person.
My husband Casey often says that both our dog and I need to be run every day - and he's not wrong. Most of my "downtime" is filled with trails and HIIT and yoga. Just chilling out is not exactly my MO.
But like most of the hard things in life, I also know that rest is extremely important - not only for helping me get to my training goals, but my life goals as well.
Nicole DeBoom, co-founder of Skirt Sports said it so well in our conversation on the Shiny Objects podcast this week:
"Being an athlete, my natural impulse was always just to try harder. Just put in more miles, work harder, do more, and that tactic just was not working."
This really hit home for me - because I have learned so many times that being the best parent, business owner, friend, partner, and athlete that I can be requires intentional rest, too.
So if you need a reminder to take a break and fill up your tank this week, let this be it, whatever that looks like for you.
